During the winter period from December 1 to March 1, passenger vehicles with a gross weight up to 3.5 t must be equipped with suitable winter tires. Winter tires must have the “mountain and snowflake” marking, and the minimum tread depth is 4 mm.

Do not wait until the last day before December 1. It is better to change tires in advance when temperatures regularly approach winter conditions, night frost is possible or roads become wet and slippery.

Different seasonal tires use different rubber compounds and tread patterns. Winter tires work better in cold, snow and ice, while summer tires provide more stable handling, shorter braking and lower wear in warm weather.

After the mandatory winter period ends, you can switch to summer tires when the weather is consistently warm and frost or snow is no longer expected. Switching too early in spring can reduce grip on cold mornings.
